Jaylo advances its climate commitment with the 'Calculate and Reduce' seal from the Carbon Footprint Registry
At Jaylo, we continue to move forward, step by step, in our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. After obtaining our carbon footprint calculation certificate in 2022, the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has just awarded us a new recognition: the 'Calculate and Reduce' seal, certifying that we not only measure our environmental impact, but are also effectively reducing it.
This certificate was issued by the Spanish Office for Climate Change, as part of the Carbon Footprint, Offsetting and CO2 Absorption Projects Registry, the same voluntary programme Jaylo has been enrolled in for several years.
What this new seal certifies
The registry covers three progressive steps: calculating the carbon footprint, reducing emissions through specific plans, and finally offsetting the residual impact through absorption projects. The certificate we have just received corresponds to the second of these steps and includes the following data:
- Calculation year: 2024
- Certified scopes: 1+2 (direct emissions and indirect emissions linked to energy consumption)
- Sites included: Barcelona, Bilbao, Tudela (Navarre) and Zaragoza
- Certified activity: road freight transport carried out at these four sites
- Reduction achieved: a 10.68% decrease in the average emission intensity for the 2022-2024 period compared to the 2021-2023 period
A commitment that delivers results
This reduction is no coincidence — it's the result of continuous work on several fronts: the progressive renewal of our fleet with increasingly efficient and sustainable vehicles, route and load optimisation to reduce empty running, and ongoing training for our drivers in efficient driving techniques.
Having objective data verified by a public body allows us not only to demonstrate our commitment to clients and partners, but also to identify new opportunities for improvement in our day-to-day operations.
Next step: offsetting
With calculation and reduction now certified, our next goal is to move towards the third level of the registry: offsetting our residual carbon footprint through CO2 absorption projects within Spanish territory.
At Jaylo, we continue working every day to minimise the impact of our activity on the environment, convinced that logistics and transport have a key role to play in the transition towards a more sustainable economic model.
